DISCLAIMER: This is an old blog post from my old post , don't get too confused.
Everyone! I am engaged! My fiancé proposed to me on Saturday and now we have been planning planning planning and boy is it a fun time! Since this is my health & personal blog I will share a yummy recipe at the end. OR you can scroll down, make the smoothie & indulge while you read about the best day in all my 19 years!
After my cookie recipes got me through finals I was able to hop on a plane to South Dakota and see my {boyfriend}. I attempted to surprise him but instead he surprised me at the airport! 4 long months of not seeing him really paid off when 4 days later he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! You're probably wondering how? when? what? where? Okay okay, so our dear friends Anna and Trenton got married on Saturday. We drove to Pocahontas, Iowa and got to celebrate the marriage of a wonderful Godly couple that reflect, so much, Christ himself! The wedding was beautiful, the bride was infatuating, and the church was gorgeous.
After all the pictures, changing, etc. we hopped in the car and headed over to the reception hall. After we got to the reception we toasted, listened to speeches, ate, visited and of course, danced! Seriously though, so much dancing, it was great. After lots and lots of dancing it was time for all the bachelorettes to gather for the bouquet toss. I apparently didn't know much about bouquet tosses because I thought that you had to be single (as in not dating) but it is if you are not married! I started backing away & Tommy was like "you aren't married" so I went back in! We all danced a little bit more before the DJ had us form a line to catch the bouquet and we started a countdown. 3...... 2...... 1...... ???
"where the heck is the bouquet?"
"why isn't she throwing it?"
"Anna.. you have to throw it (haha)." Those are all the thoughts probably going through our heads. Then she brings it down and turns around and starts walking towards us..
"okay really now, what is she doing?"
"wait, why is she walking towards me?'
Those are the thoughts that were going through my head. I was so confused. Then she hands it to me and I was STILL confused. I see Tommy walking out from the crowd (still confused) and then he walks up to me and I see the ring in his hand. It took me longer than it probably should have to process! Then he gets down on one knee and asks me to be his bride. I probably stared for a little while because I was utterly confused, shocked and surprised.
Side note: I DON'T GET SURPRISED, ever. If I do there is lots of
suspicion and I know something is up.
I of course said yes and quickly he got up and put the seal of forever on my finger (: We hugged and hugged and hugged and I kind of remember everyone cheering, I was just in the moment. I remember lifting up the bouquet up in the air and some of the girls freaked out. I remember we had our first kiss, in front of the entire Rustix population & we're not even sorry. When we kissed his friend Stephen just shouted "YAAAHHH!" haha it was so great. His mom ran over and just kept saying "Welcome, welcome, Welcome to the family."His sisters came over and I got to hug my future sisters-in-law. His dad gave me a big 'ol hug and I knew at the moment I was so so happy. I knew this was a new addition to my family and I would never have to leave Tommy's side. Guyyysssss, I am engaged! I get to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life and my best friend. We get to do life together and we get to do it with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I get to serve side-by-side with my future husband in ministry and we get to glorify the Lord with our marriage.

Oh yeah, I could never forget, the ring is from
B r i l l i a n t E a r t h. A jeweler that used sustainably and ethically sourced diamonds, metals, stones. They come in beautiful recycled bamboo boxes and their mission is wonderful. If you go back to my post a few months ago about blood diamonds you will learn of the horrors of diamond mining. I am so proud of Tommy for purchasing a high quality diamond that provided people a job, safe working environments and adequate pay. I have always wanted a ring from Brilliant Earth & here it is now, on my finger (: God is so good guys. Prayers are answered and he has a message for all of us; we just have to be willing to listen.
Now, since I am obsessed with smoothies as we all know I created a new smoothie recipe that is an amazing pick-me-up for breakfast, snack or dessert. I love that my fiancé's family accepts my eating choices and they even accommodate them! Here it is:
The Proposal
1 frozen banana
1 tbsp. carob powder
1 cup baby spinach
1 cup cashew milk
1 tbsp. crunchy peanut butter
1 tbsp. hemp seeds
cinnamon
* whip out your blender (vitamix) and get going!
I use The Peanut Butter Co. & they are seriously so delicious.
Happy smoothie-ing and wish me luck on my wedding planning!
